Your posts have become a "Must Read" for me, and I imagine they resonate with so many women in the midst of their own midlife reinvention. Thank you. And please...we all need "because...vagina" t-shirts ASAP!

I loved this. It reminded me of a time I sat down with myself one day and really imagined what my life would look like with children, with the man I was with, and I came to the conclusion that it wasn't for me. It was a hard "NO!". It wasn't just the idea that I didn't want kids, but I was really looking at it honestly. What would my days would look like? I realized I didn't like the American lifestyle of having children on a middle income. The exhaustion and losing one-self to the activities, chores, etc. It wasn't for me. As a coach, I see parents come in run into the ground. Working full-time, running to activities, squeezing meals in...no, thank you.

Taking the time to be self-aware like this is so freakin important! Good for you for recognizing what didn’t fit in the life you were creating.

So many women are waking up to this. The recognition can feel incredibly empowering — and then the actual shift is harder than expected.

In my work with women, this is the distinction I keep making: seeing the conditioning is not the same as resolving what made it feel like safety.

The body may still predict danger when she stops pleasing, shrinking, or organizing herself around everyone else’s needs.

That’s where real reinvention begins — resolving the old imprints so the self underneath can actually lead.

Agreed, Stephanie! One hundred percent. That’s why we do pen and paper Quests to start the process on paper.

Lots to think about here. I'm kind of side-eyeing my entire life right now...

I think side-eyeing is a good thing, Barbara.

I had just moved back to help my parents…they were arguing and a whole part of who I thought I was shattered, just a reaction to my childhood

Yes, I love this. Reinvention doesn’t always mean upheaval — sometimes it’s as simple, and as brave, as allowing yourself to want what’s truly yours. I’m learning that real transformation begins the moment we stop hiding from our own truth.

Love this! Reminds me of an article I just read about "mankeeping," which is in line with the notion of women overproviding and wearing multiple hats for their men, and I even include male friends! https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/28/well/family/mankeeping-definition.html?unlocked_article_code=1.bk8.Wbjj.izDzA92l4lK2&smid=url-share
